Oh, horse apples! So much to blog, so little time. I'm gonna try to add as many posts as I can over the course of the next few days, so prepare for the tidal wave! Right now, however, we are just going to have to do with a slight trickle of a small flood.
Any whoo, baack to the point of this post. I love comic books. I love comic book art. I have a few favorite comic book artists. From time to time, I will toss a brief (partially-Wikipedia-copied) bio of one of my favorite artists and a few of my favorite pieces of their art onto the blog. So......Enjoy!!
First up, Rafael Grampa:

Birthing Time: April 4th, 1978
Brazilian native Rafael Grampá began working as an illustrator at the age of 14. He began by illustrating self-help books – what he calls the "how to raise your problematic teenagers sort". During this period, he also did t-shirt designs, caricatures, children's party decorations, and logos for "butcher shops and surf shops". After that he graduated to working as an illustrator for a kid's comic publisher where "the weirdest thing was that we were required to wear a tie". With a couple jobs inbetween, he found himself at one of the most respected motion graphics studios, Lobo, working as an art director and concept designer for clients such as Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, The Coca-Cola Company and Diesel.
This guy is on art STEROIDS!!! I don't even know what to call his art style. The heavily detailed hodge-podge reminds me of Frank Quitely, Paul Pope, Geof Darrow and mangaka Taiyo Matsumoto, This guy is phenomenal, and anyone that hasn't read his stuff: GO DO IT NOW!! His own book, "Mesmo Delivery" , is out now from Dark Horse Comics. He also did a story for "Strange Tales Vol. 2" which I read and thought was a pretty interesting little character study. He is is putting together a new project called "Furry Water" which I am anticipating with heart-stopping enthusiasm. His work is truly of the highest caliber, I find something new to marvel at each time I look at one of his drawings.
