Joaquim Dos Santos Interview

Joaquim Dos Santos is the best director in animation right now. This man is my hero. I honestly feel he is my directing idol. The types of stuff he cranks out on a regular basis is of a quality I hope I can follow in. Everything from his camera angles, to fight choreography, to his character designs are truly incredible. The use of music and color in his work is really the best, bar none.
comicbookmovie.com did an interview of the guy over at: http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/SuperHeroTooniverse/news/?a=25045

Check it out, and stand in awe of his wisdom!

Cow and Chicken

Back in the day, when Cartoon Network had more than just two good shows runnings and didn't have stuff like "CN Real"(the most oxymoronic thing I 've ever heard of) on the channel, there was a revolting and hilarious show called "Cow and Chicken" on the air.......

Cow and Chicken was off the chain!

Cow and chicken

I don't know whatever happened to it, or why it was cancelled but this show was a masterpiece. I love the inexplicable "cow and chicken siblings" thing, and the fact that satan was on the program, just renamed "that Red Guy", and the fact that you could only see Cow and Chicken's parents' lower halves and they were both HUMAN!! Cow and Chicken was hysterical. I don't know what the series' creator is doing now, but I hope he is creating fantastic cartoons for the world to cherish, and will do so until the end of time.

NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA PHOTOS!!

Pics from the new "Captain America" movie coming next year from director Joe Johnton (Wolfman):

More pics @ http://www.comicbookmovie.com/captain_america/news/?a=24543

I am really not sure what to make of this film. I have always been on the fence about Chris Evans playing Cap, the same way I'm "meh" about Ryan Reynolds playing Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie next year. The thing is, that movie has Martin Campbell at the helm. Both these movies could go either way, and they have alot riding on them. If this rendition of Cap bombs, it will destroy Marvel's plans for an "Avengers" movie, and could even cause a "Mark-Ruffalo-as-the-Hulk" recasting situation. I really hope both these movies turn out well,a nd I know I'll be there at midnight on opening night.
(At least Marvel got the Red Skull casting right. Hugo Weaving is AWESOME!!)

Weekly Shonen Jump: Bleach Edition

I like reading "Bleach", by Tite kubo, but sometimes it leaves me confused. Case and point:
Click to advance to the next page!

Bleach Chapter 424

I thought Bleach would be DONE by now, but apparently there will be some new shinigami shenanigans for at least another few months. I was all prepared for this thing to end, and it looked like it was ready to wrap up pretty neatly. This, hot on the heels of the new Dragon Ball manga announcement (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/10/25/the-return-of-dragon-ball/), is making me think that people are either A) running out of ideas for new manga, or B) just getting paid a whole lot from all the merchandising, and don't want to stop the gravy train. But I will defnitely congratulate Mr. Kubo, for taking what could have been a fairly lame new chapter and turned it into an intruiging-albeit confusing-new start for the series. I mean, what the heck kind of last page is this:

Man, I don't know who that guy is, or  what any of this could mean, but I'm syked!!

Brandon Jennings Being a F$%king Basketball Genius

Dang. This clip really bums me out. It makes me sad this guy is stuck on the Bucks. But really, I can't imagine what other team he would go to, anyway.....Portland? Thats about the only place I can think of, anybody else got any suggestions?

Artists I Love-Part 2: Frank Miller

Frank Miller is another artist/ writer I love.

After blowing up in the 80's writing and drawing Daredevil and Batman classics, Miller took an unexpected turn in his comic career: He started to make creator owned work. Stuff like "Hard Boiled" and "Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot", as well as his more popular series "Sin City", really helped make independent comics publishers like Dark Horse some serious credibility.

His dark and gritty noir series had all kinds of gorgeous pictures in it, but his prose could rival even the best pulp ficrion from the 30's.

In the 00's he made (semi) successful transition into film, co-directing the film adaption of Sin City, as well as lending a helping hand in the production of the hit move "300" based off another of his own comics, which was in turn inspired by a movie he saw as a child.  But recently, he started making products of questionable quality, ("All-Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder", the film adaptation of Will Eisner's "The Spirit") and becoming a lightning rod for controversy (his yet-to-be-published propaganda piece "Holly Terror Batman", which has been re-appropriated for a new, totally non-Batman related story, as well as the aforementioned "All-Star" series).

As a die-hard fan of Miller from as far back as I can remember, I can't wait for this guy's next porject. I just hope it is a return to the noir Miller of old and not the "edgy" and "radical" new and strange direction he seems to have taken as of late. I would hate for a legend like this to end his career on a sour note.

Artists I Love-Part 1: Rafael Grampa

Oh, horse apples! So much to blog, so little time. I'm gonna try to add as many posts as I can over the course of the next few days, so prepare for the tidal wave! Right now, however, we are just going to have to do with a slight trickle of a small flood.

Any whoo, baack to the point of this post. I love comic books. I love comic book art. I have a few favorite comic book artists. From time to time, I will toss a brief (partially-Wikipedia-copied) bio of one of my favorite artists and a few of my favorite pieces of their art onto the blog. So......Enjoy!!

First up, Rafael Grampa:

Rafael Grampa - Batman

(info from: http://mtv.uol.com.br/perfil/rafael-gramp%C3%A1)

Birthing Time: April 4th, 1978

Brazilian native Rafael Grampá began working as an illustrator at the age of 14. He began by illustrating self-help books – what he calls the "how to raise your problematic teenagers sort". During this period, he also did t-shirt designs, caricatures, children's party decorations, and logos for "butcher shops and surf shops". After that he graduated to working as an illustrator for a kid's comic publisher where "the weirdest thing was that we were required to wear a tie". With a couple jobs inbetween, he found himself at one of the most respected motion graphics studios, Lobo, working as an art director and concept designer for clients such as Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, The Coca-Cola Company and Diesel.

This guy is on art STEROIDS!!! I don't even know what to call his art style. The heavily detailed hodge-podge reminds me of Frank Quitely, Paul Pope, Geof Darrow and mangaka Taiyo Matsumoto, This guy is phenomenal, and anyone that hasn't read his stuff: GO DO IT NOW!! His own book, "Mesmo Delivery" , is out now from Dark Horse Comics. He also did a story for "Strange Tales Vol. 2" which I read and thought was a pretty interesting little character study. He is is putting together a new project called "Furry Water" which I am anticipating with  heart-stopping enthusiasm. His work is truly of the highest caliber, I find something new to marvel at each time I look at one of his drawings.

Mind Blowing Trailer

The guy that directed this trailer (Adam Berg) is supposed to be directing the "Deadpool" movie?!! I'm game! This thing had a really nice Inception-y vibe to it. I couldn't help but think "how did these guys come up with/execute this idea?!" while I was watching the whole thing unfold.

ASURA'S WRATH!!!!

I stumbled across this game perusing through the Tokyo Game Show articles published by gaming websites all across the internets. The general consensus: This game will be something....special. I am really looking forward to it. I know next to nothing about it, and that's exactly what me to it. The art is fantastic and its a Capcom game, so you can't go wrong there. Viewtiful Joe is one of my favorite games of all time, and I hope this follow suit. Check out these screens of the game, and watch the off-the-wall trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PCDxS8uJFQ

No More Heroes "Paradise"

Finally, at long last, the fantastic game "No More Heroes" by Suda 51 and his Grasshopper Games Studio goes to the PS3. And with Playstation Move functionality (*groan*). Check this pic of the game on the Wii in all it's M-Rated glory, and just imagine what this thing will be like running in HD!!!!

The Rajon Rondo factor (or the "RRF" for short)

This is Rajon Rondo:
Rajon Rondo - Boston Celtics
He single handedly carries the Basketball Player Retirement Home known as the Celtics on his back. He makes it all work for these guys. He is responsible for headlines like this one:

Stuff that is important to me (us)

Me and my compatriot E-Weezy have joined forces like the Wonder Twins to bring the world our blog. It will rock. We will tell the universe what things are important in the realms of gaming, shoes, clothes, comics, sports, movies, TV, and anything else we can think of. At least whats important to us. Enjoy it. Or not. It's your perogative as a reader.
